Armenia exports cognac to the CIS countries, the EAEU and the European market. In the Armenian-Russian trade, most of the exports of the drink account for cognac.
The sphere of cognac production is aimed at exporting the created products. According to various estimates, the export of cognac produced in Armenia accounts for 90% of the total production. For example, in the first months of 2021, 46.696 thousand litters of cognac were produced in Armenia. The indicators of cognac exports from Armenia began to recover after 2020.

Russia's share in exports was supposed to be 65%. Armenia was supposed to provide 33% of cognac exported to Russia. There was also a separate item on exports to China.
According to this, 10% of the brandy exported from Armenia was to be consumed in China. Exports to other countries, including the United States, were expected to amount to about $ 20 million.
Armenia will be able to export a drink called "cognac" to the EU until 2043. Therefore, cognac exporters already have to come up with a new brand name. There are some European agreements according to which Armenia should export cognac under a different name. The reason is that the brand " cognac " is under the protection of the EU. It is considered a French geographical toponym. The cognac found in Armenia has already begun to be exported under a new name - "Brandy".
Unfortunately, cognac producers in Armenia cannot assure the world of one very important fact. Cognac was produced in Armenia much earlier - since 1887. Meanwhile, the production of cognac in France began only in 1909.
