This year in exporting agricultural products Armenia has set a record. About 200 thousand tons of agricultural products were exported from Armenia. In 2020, 145 thousand tons were exported. The main direction to export agricultural products is the EEU countries. Armenian agricultural products are especially in demand in the Russian Federation. Next in Georgia and Belarus. Armenia tries to develop trade relations with other countries. In the Middle East, such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait, where Armenian agricultural products are in great demand. Which type of agricultural products lead in the export process? The leader in terms of export volumes is potatoes. Armenia exported more than 480,000 tons of potatoes last year. The next required agricultural product is apricot. Last year 35 thousand tons of apricots were exported. And the third most demanded is the tomato. In 2021, 34 thousand tons were exported. Armenia exports cherries, peaches, apples, cucumbers and berries.

When exporting agricultural products, the active period is determined according to the harvest season of the exported products. Apricots from mid-June to mid-July, Grapes from late August to mid-October, Peaches from late July to mid-October, Cherries from late May to early August, Plums from mid-June to mid-September.

Armenia exports agricultural products to the main markets in the following ways: By trucks - Bagratashen border point to Georgia. Then transit through Georgia and passage to Russia. The trucks are heading to the Russian market at the Lars border checkpoint. This is the main way when exported fruit and vegetables by truck and by boat – cross Bagratashen border point to enter Georgia, then to the ports of Poti or Batumi, and from there by ferry it will enter Russian port of Novorossiysk. This path is especially important when Lars is closed. The planes go to Moscow from Zvartnots airport. There are refrigerators to keep fruits and vegetables fresh. This method is used to deliver the food to the destination in the freshest possible condition.
