Armenia exports apricots to the EAEU market, primarily to Russia, but also to neighbouring Georgia.

Apricot is the main agricultural product exported from Armenia. From year to year, export volumes vary significantly depending on the harvest. However, according to the average data, 60% of vegetables and fruits exported from Armenia are apricots. In 2021, about 25 thousand tons of apricots were exported from Armenia. For comparison, about 43 thousand tons of fruits and berries were exported from Armenia last year. In 2020, apricot exports were significantly lower - 19,400 tons.

The cost of apricot exports depends on a number of factors. A significant role is played by the harvest of this year, its quality, and the general state of agriculture. For example, last year apricot exports averaged 400-450 drams. And on the Russian market, Armenian apricots were sold on average for 150-180 rubbles per kilogram.

When exporting apricots from Armenia, not only apricots with an attractive presentation enter the foreign market. Apricot is also exported, which can be used for canning. Of course, in this case, both the export price and the sale price on the market change.

When exporting apricots, there are several rules that are important to follow.

. Apricots should be arranged in boxes that allow air circulation. They can be cardboard boxes with holes, as well as plastic and wooden boxes. In the international practice of fruit transportation, it is also customary to wash and disinfect the fruit before preparing it for transportation.

· For the export of apricots, it is desirable that the trucks have refrigeration conditions. These trucks are equipped with a special cooling system. This allows to ensure the freshness of the apricots during the entire shipping period.

. Most fresh fruits and vegetables should be transported at temperatures between -35- and 45-degrees Fahrenheit. Only in this circumstance will the apricot reach the buyer in a fresh form, with no loss of product appearance and all of its features.
