What is a customs declaration

What is a customs declaration? For import and export organizers, customs declaration is an important component of working with customs authorities. A customs declaration is an action by which the declarant expresses his intention to declare goods in a certain customs regime in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia.

According to the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union, customs declaration is carried out electronically. A customs declaration submitted electronically is considered to be an electronic document or a document in electronic format that includes all the information to be filled in the customs declaration in the order and scope defined by the legislation. This document is submitted to the customs authorities.

However, there are cases when it is possible to make a written declaration.

For example

  1. When placing goods under the customs procedure of customs transit
  2. In the case of goods for personal use
  3. In the case of goods delivered by international postal parcels
  4. In the case of international transport vehicles
  5. when using transport, trade and (or) other documents as a customs declaration, including documents provided for by international treaties of the member states with third countries.
  6. In other cases, defined by the legislation of the member states of the Union on customs regulation.

It is also possible to use the preliminary customs declaration system. This makes the import process easier for many entrepreneurs.

Also, businessmen are given the opportunity 24/7, without visiting the customs office or customs warehouse, to receive the goods and dispose of them immediately. Moreover, the whole process of customs importation is invisible to businessmen.

After completing the customs declaration, the information provided can be changed or completed before the goods are released. This is carried out with the permission of the customs authority and on the basis of a justified written application of the declarant. After the goods have been released, changes and additions to the customs declaration are allowed only in the cases and in the order established by the decision of the Customs Union Commission.
