Cargo weight

The weight of the cargo and its varieties - during the transportation of all types, the weight of the cargo has an essential influence and significance. The weight of the cargo is used for determination of the cost of freight, regardless of the type of shipment, be it sea, air or land. What are the main types of cargo weight and what do they mean? Let's see them below:
In the process of shipment, three types of cargo weight are distinguished - the gross weight, net weight and packing weight (for example, tare) -tare weight. It would not hurt for a client with goods to be transported to understand the difference in weights, so that the documents submitted by the transporting company are understandable and at the same time avoid possible misunderstandings.
Let's define the weight of the cargo and its value.
· Aggregate weight is the main weight of the load. The aggregate weight usually includes all the necessary aspects of the shipment. In particular, this is cargo, any type of packaging that is necessary for the implementation of the carriage of goods. Using the example of air cargo, we will try to understand the main meaning of the aggregate weight. The aggregate weight of air cargo is calculated as follows: weight of goods, weight of packaging, weight of crew and passengers, fuel and airplane in total.
· Net Weight - Net weight refers to the weight of the shipment and doesn’t include the weight of the package, or for example tare.
· The weight of a package/tare is the weight of a tare or packaging, with which the goods will be transported. It means, that in the case of the tare weight, the tare/container/package is considered as a single unit, without being included in the weight of the cargo.
And now - a little mathematics, in order to understand the weight of the load, the difference and the relationship between the weights.
Aggregate Weight = Net Weight + Package / Container Weight. Net Weight = Total Weight - Tare / Package Weight.
So, aggregate weight includes tare, but net weight excludes tare.
By the way, the record of the heaviest cargo ever registered has not bypassed Armenia. In 2009, the heaviest cargo ever shipped by air was loaded by the aircraft AN-225. The cargo was a generator of a power plant - sent to Armenia and this cargo weighed 189 tons.
