The need for transit cargo shipping is due to the fact that not all countries are immediate neighbors. That is, cargo cannot always be shipped immediately from one country to another without the need to cross the border of a third country.

"Customs transit" customs procedure is such a customs procedure, according to which, in compliance with the conditions for processing the goods by that customs procedure, the goods are shipped (shipped by transport) from the sending customs authority to the customs authority of destination without payment of customs duties, taxes, special, countervailing, compensation duties.
According to the customs laws of the Customs Union, customs transit is applied when moving the following goods:
1) foreign goods - from the customs authority at the place of arrival to the customs authority at the place of departure.
2) foreign goods - from the customs authority of the place of arrival to the internal customs authority.
3) foreign goods, as well as goods of the Customs Union, if it is provided for by paragraph 5 of this article, from the internal customs authority to the customs authority of the place of departure.
4) foreign goods - from one internal customs body to another internal customs body.
5) goods of the Customs Union from the customs authority at the place of departure to the customs authority at the place of arrival on the territory of a state that is not a member of the Customs Union.
6) The customs procedure "customs transit" is used for the shipping (transportation) of goods under the following conditions:
1) from the customs authority at the place of arrival to the customs authority at the place of departure.
2) from the customs authority at the place of arrival to the internal customs authority.
3) from the internal customs body to the customs body at the place of departure.
4) from one internal customs body to another internal customs body.
5) between customs authorities on the territories and (or) the sea of states that are not members of the Union:

1) ensuring the payment of customs duties and taxes for foreign goods.
2) customs escort.
3) definition of the sub-route of goods transportation.
